On September 28, 2009 at the University of Georgia Tamta Khalvashi, OSI/FCO Chevening Research Student at the University of Oxford conducted a public seminar on the topic:

‘We Explored Georgians Other than Us’: Invention of a Construct of ‘Georgianness’ in Turkey through Imagining Counterparts beyond the Border.’

It was attended by CBSR staff and the centre members, students of the School of Humanities at the University of Georgia and others. The seminar was followed by an interesting discussion on the material.

On September 17, 2009 at the University of Georgia Andrea Weiss, Marie Curie Social Anthropology Fellow and PhD Candidate at the Central European University in Budapest, conducted a public seminar on the topic:

‘Economy of favours’: Field notes from Samegrelo.’

It was attended by CBSR staff and the centre members, students of the School of Humanities and teachers from the University of Georgia and many others. The seminar was followed by a discussion on the above mentioned topic.

On Wednesday, June10, at 15:00 in the room 101 at the University of Georgia Tamta Khalvashi (PhD Candidate, Chevening Research Scholar at the University of Oxford) gave a seminar on the topic:

‘Cultural and Social Transmission: About Several Anthropological Concepts.’

It was attended by CBSR staff and the centre members, students of the School of Humanities at the University of Georgia and others. The seminar was followed by a discussion on the topic.

On April 1, on Wednesday at 14:00 in the room 101 at the University of Georgia Manana Sanadze gave a seminar on the topic:

“Historical Geography of the Countries of Mediterranean Sea in Antique Period and Early Middle Ages”

On March 4, on Wednesday at 15:00 in the room 101 at the University of Georgia Khatuna Tsiklauri gave a seminar on the topic:

“Albert Camus”

On February 25, on Wednesday at 14:00 in the room 101 at the University of Georgia Leila Kiknadze gave a seminar on the topic:

“Minorities in the Near East”

On February 18, on Wednesday at 14:00 in the room 101 at the University of Georgia Tamar Koridze gave a seminar on the topic:

“Catholitry of Abkhazia”

On February 16, on Monday at 14:00 in the room 101 at the University of Georgia  PhD Candidate from Central European University in Cultural Anthropology Andrea Weiss gave a seminar on the topic:

“Problems and Issues on Ethnicity”

On January 21^st, on Monday at 14:00 in the room 101 at the University of Georgia Nika Kvaratskhelia gave a seminar on the topic:

“The Tendencies and Perspectives of the Development of Cultural Tourism in Georgia”

On December 29^th, on Monday at 17:00 in the room 101 at the University of Georgia the Director of National Curriculum and Assesment Centre, Simon Janashia and a PhD student in cultural anthropology at Washington University, Nutsa Batiashvili gave a seminar on the topic:

“Collective Memory and Teaching History of Georgia in the Schools”  

It was attended by CBSR staff and the centre members, Historians, school teachers of the history of Georgia and others. The seminar was followed by a discussion on the topic.  

Nino Abakelia gave a seminar on December 24, on Wednesday at 14:00 in the room 101 at the University of Georgia. The topic of the seminar was  -

“Ritual Guests of 13 Holy Nights in Georgian Tradition”

 The semninar was attended by the students of the School of Humanities at The University of Georgia, CBSR staff and centre members.

Mariam Gvelesiani gave a seminar on December 17, on Wednesday at 14:00 in the room 101 at the University of Georgia. The topic of the seminar was - “Armazi - Supreme Idol of Georgia”
